New Brands Carried by Organize-It: Microplane Graters, Cutters and Mills
June 18, 2013
Organize-It adds new products to its inventory everyday. Recently, the Content Department has been adding a number of new brands to our website for our wonderful, loyal customers to explore and enjoy. One of the new brands that has been added is Microplane, maker of premier-quality kitchen graters, cutters and mills. Here is a sampling of Microplane items carried by Organize-It:
This Microplane Grater and Zester is the ideal tool to use when grating hard cheeses and zesting citrus. It’s made from extremely hard and sharp surgical grade steel that is also dishwasher safe.
This dual Cheese Cutter and Grater allows you to choose the thickness of your cheese and get precise results with every use. This cutter has a small, medium and large cutting setting along with a small ribbon grater surface.
Organize-It carries four different varieties of Microplane Graters. The Fine Grater is ideal for use on hard cheeses, citrus and spices such as ginger and garlic. The Coarse and Extra Coarse Graters are great for shredding and prepping potatoes, carrots, apples, cabbage, cucumbers, and soft cheeses in a variety of meals. The Ribbon Grater can be used on hard or soft foods and cuts bi-directionally, making long, thin strips.
Imagine having fresh herbs quickly milled to perfection and sprinkled on your favorite salad without a bunch of chopping or a big mess to clean up. That is exactly what you get with the Microplane Herb Mill. With a few simple twists of the wrist, this device makes quick work of finely chopping herbs. The secret is in the blades. Unlike a traditional knife, the blade on this herb mill consists of numerous tiny blades with distinct scallops that cut like razors, as you rotate. The rotation produces a scissors-type action, clearly shearing the fibers, rather than tearing and bruising them. Enjoy instant dill in your egg salad, or fresh parsley sprinkled onto your soup. The soft grip lid fits comfortably in your hand, making the gadget a joy to use. The stainless steel blades, while long-lasting, are replaceable for a modest fee, if you should ever wear them out.
The Microplane Cheese Mill makes a wonderful addition to your dinner table and is a wonderful helper in the kitchen when preparing casseroles or lasagnas. Designed to grate large amounts of hard cheese, this rotary cheese grater can hold a large amount in the body and downward push and simple twist of the top grates cheese easily and effectively. Two interchangeable blades allow you to choose the consistency of the cheese so you can grate it into fine or coarse pieces. Designed with a soft-touch handle for comfort and a lid for convenient storage of the blades. Instructions are included all components are dishwasher safe for a quick and easy cleanup. This kitchen aid is designed for use on hard cheeses such as Parmesan, Swiss, and Romano. Check out the video below to see the Cheese Mill in action.
Wall Mounted Display Shelves Vs. Your Cat
June 17, 2013
Don’t get me wrong – I am definitely a huge lover of felines. Their cute little faces, eccentric quirks and playful attitude make them a joy to be around. However there is one thing about cats that drives me crazy. And that is when they get up on a shelf and start rubbing their facing against things. I cannot even begin to estimate how many nice vases, picture frames and artwork have been lost to an out-of-control cat. There is one way to keep kitties away from your valuables, and that is to use wall mounted display shelves.
Why wall mounted display shelves?
You see, most shelves serve almost like a ladder for your cat, allowing him or her to find a way to the summit, where they can rub their faces on all of your stuff. If there is even the slightest chance of a cat climbing up on your shelving unit, you can bet your bottom dollar that they will find a way. Cats are amazing creatures in this way – nothing gets between them and their face-rubbing.
So like I said, a great way to prevent your cat from destroying all of your precious belongings is to place them on wall mounted display shelves. These shelves are better than your typical shelving units for a variety of reasons.
First of all, they “float” on the wall, leaving no route for your cat to climb up. Unless your cat has some sort of Spiderman power, he will be completely unable to reach the pinnacle.
A second feature of wall mounted display shelves is that you can place them at any height along the wall! I know some cats that are amazing jumpers, but if you install the display shelf above a certain height, there is no way a cat is getting up there.
So if you have issues with your cat destroying all of your valuables, replacing your stand-alone shelving units with a series of wall mounted display shelves like this wall mounted glass shelf!
Freestanding Shoe Rack for my All-Stars
June 14, 2013
I’ll admit it; I am a little bit obsessed with my favorite brand and style of shoes. I have dozens of pairs of this one single shoe, albeit in a wide variety of colors. What I love about this shoe is that it has a light yet iconic style and has been in production since the middle of the century – that is longevity! With dozens of pairs of this shoe, I really needed to invest in a quality freestanding shoe rack.
You may be asking yourself: “What shoe could possibly be so attractive that someone would exclusively and obsessively buy new pairs every week?” Well folks, I’ll tell you – it is the Converse All-Star, informally known as the Chuck All-Star. These shoes are cozy, durable, lightweight and they look cool!
They come in a wide range of colors too, making them perfect for collecting. I have had red, white, blue, grey, green, beige, orange, yellow, pink (yes I am a man), and even zebra-stripes! I can accessorize my shoes with my outfit every single day of the week, if I chose to. I don’t usually do that, but I could if I wanted to!
These days, people usually associate All-Stars with alternative people such as punk-rockers, skateboarders and other counter-culture figures. However, what is funny about these sneakers is that they started out as a basketball shoe. Can you believe how far they have come in manufacturing athletic shoes? I love my Chucks, but I’m sorry – there is no way I would ever attempt to play a sport with that flimsy canvas the only protection against a sprained ankle.
The best way to organize all those Chucks is a freestanding shoe rack
I use a freestanding shoe rack to keep all of my Chuck All-Stars in order. This Cedar Shoe Rack was the perfect choice for storing my vast array of shoes. It has a simple design that can be stacked and is made from that sweet-scented cedar wood.
