The Experiment: Clutter Hack for Dishes – Update

hammertime_1Well, I’m glad to tell you that the experiment is a success!
Sort of.
My hope was that every one would wash their dishes when they were done with them and that I would awaken to a sparkling kitchen every morning. Wishful thinking, I know. Back to reality.
Reality is that habits don’t change that easily. My youngest still leaves his dishes on the coffee table and my oldest still leaves them in his room, but since there’s only one set per person they don’t stay there long enough to get nasty. Continue Reading

Change of Season Brings Another Closet Clean Out

autumn_leavesNow that fall is here, it is time to go through my closet again. In addition to removing the summer clothes, I have the chore of getting rid of clothes that are too big. Since the beginning of the year I have miraculously been able to stick to eating well and have lost 20 pounds. I haven’t done as well with my commitment to exercise. Now that the weather is cooling off, maybe I can start that goal again.
One thing that will effect my closet organization is the show What Not to Wear on TLC. I have watched it enough to have a better idea of the things I should not wear and some pieces I need to add to my wardrobe. Continue Reading

Reader Hack: Art Supply Storage

art_closetWhen the kids art supplies began to get out of control, I had to get the stuff off the floor and the kitchen table. I began to consider the unused spaces in my home, and came up with a solution that takes up very little space, but yields mondo storage capacity for small items. It is a behind-the-door pantry rack that installs in about 15 minutes. I think I’m going to install one on the back of every door in my house now!
