Featured Product: Woll Cookware

We just got this new line of cookware in stock and wanted to share a little bit more information about it with you. Why did we make the decision to stock Woll and what’s so great about the company and their products? Well, our buyer tried the cookware out before making the decision to stock it, and we’ll let her say it in her own words:

I’ve gone through a lot of non-stick pans. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I tried one of Woll’s pans, but this one is the best. I’ve been cooking on it at home and it can handle pretty much anything I throw at it. I can use metal utensils without scratching it,  put it in the oven, I can cook on high, put it in the dishwasher, and it still looks like new. I can’t wait to get another one.

What makes Woll cookware so good?

Part of it is Woll’s dedication to handmade: each piece is hand-crafted in the company’s factory in Germany, chill-cast in a special process for optimal thermal absorption and heat distribution. Another part is quality materials: the pans are then coated with real diamond crystals (the Diamond line) or aluminum-titanium oxides, all using a special, patented process. Woll cookware is suitable for gas, electric, ceramic, glass, and halogen cooktops, and is both quality- and safety-tested and certified before being sent out.

Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store

Woll products are dishwasher and metal utensil safe, FPOA-free, and even oven safe up to 260° C / 500° F. Certain models come with detachable handles, making clean-up, storage, and oven use quick and easy. Metal utensils don’t scratch the coating like they do many other types of non-stick cookware, and cooking on high isn’t a problem either. Because you don’t have to use as much oil or butter when cooking, this high-quality cookware can also help you cook a healthier, lower-fat meal.

Woll supports their local economy.

Since 1979, Woll has been dedicated to both providing a quality product and embracing its social responsibility by training young people and providing valuable jobs to its local community in Germany. Woll does not outsource or mass-produce. Their methods combine innovative technology with traditional craftsmanship, ensuring that their products can be enjoyed for many years. Even the aluminum alloy that Woll cookware is made from comes from an east German plant.

How to Organize Your Cords

Whether it is coming from your office, entertainment center, or all those gadgets, you probably have a mess of cords somewhere that needs taming. This mess can be unsightly, frustrating and unsafe. Here are several different solutions to the cord clutter issue:

– Before unplugging anything, label all cords.  You can create your own or purchase a set of handy cord flag labels.  Not only will this prevent the accidental unplugging of the wrong cord, but it also makes it super easy to disassemble and reassemble for moves, technology upgrades, remodeling, etc.

– Group cords by area to avoid running them across your desk or on the floor where people could trip.

– Determine how many plugs are needed at a specific power outlet. If you have more than two, then invest in a power strip (with surge protector). So often I hear the complaint that a traditional power strip doesn’t work given the size of so many of the power cords today. The Electro Man Multi-Outlet Extension Cord solves this issue.  With each of the four outlets setup on its own cord, you can move them around to fit any configuration of power cords.

– Use tubing or ties to group cords and cables together in a crowded area such as an entertainment center or computer.

– Use cable hooks or clips to easily gather cords together and guide them around the edges and corners of furniture for a more refined and organized look.

Bobino Cable Buddy Cord Wraps work really well for extra-long cords.  You simply hook the cord in and wrap it around for the desired length.  This prevents the frustration of tangled cords.

If you have more USB components that you have ports on your computer, consider investing in a USB hub. There are so many gadgets now that have USB connections to the computer (cameras, video cameras, mp3 players, etc.). With this solution, you will only have one wire running to the back of your computer, and you can place the hub in a convenient location. Another advantage of this solution is that all of these cables can stay plugged into the hub and you don’t have to go looking for them when you need them.

Lastly, consider a charging station for all of your handheld devices. It is a great way to keep track of the cords and keep them out of sight.

Whatever your cord challenges are, the solutions provided above will help you regain control of your tangled, unsightly messes of cords, cables and wires!

Moms Need Desks, Too!

computer desksI don’t know why, but it surprises me every time.

I get a call from a prospective client—usually a woman with a few children, telling me her papers are all over the place. I go to her home for a Needs Assessment and she shows me piles of papers on the counter, on the dining room table, in bins under her bed. I ask her one simple question: “Where is your desk?” The answer I get more often than not is, “I don’t have one.”

I have seen a home with two play areas for the kids but no area for Mom. I have been to a home with a home office for Dad but no space for Mom. I have been shown Dad’s fancy home office and then shown Mom’s counter space in the kitchen that she shares with the mail and a stack of recipes. Continue Reading
