Cleaning up Kiddies with Toy Storage
October 20, 2012
As a parent, one of the most frustrating aspects of child-rearing is getting them to realize the importance of organization. It is good to develop cleaning and organization habits early on so they do not grow up to become “pig-pens” – this is where toy storage is important.
It can be really exasperating to explain to the little ones about the importance of putting all of their toys away after they are done – but not two hours later as you go downstairs to grab a midnight bologna and cream cheese sandwich you take a tumble in a cartoon-esque manner because someone left their Hot Wheels city fully assembled.
How’s a Parent To Teach Toy Storage?
One of the best ways to teach storage and organization to little ones is to provide them with the correct toy storage options. There are a wide variety of kid’s storage options, from the more practical to the themed and fun storage bins. From toy bins up to decorative toy chests, there are many different options for getting your kids to put their toys away.
One of the most space-efficient choices for toy storage are unique storage options, like the stuffed toy hammock pictured above. Unique products like this provide a fun and innovative way for your child to learn the importance of cleaning up after themselves. Some hanging organizers, like the one above, have two mounting points, proving a hammock-like place to keep your kids stuffed animals, actions figures and more. Other hanging storage items dangle down and feature a variety of clips to hang the toys from.
With all of these storage options, you would think it would be a simple task to get your children to clean up with themselves. You can make it fun, you can make it easy but most of the time it just takes perseverance that I know you have deep inside of you! Best of luck getting those kids in order!
Product Round-Up: Holiday Entertaining
October 19, 2012
With a little over a month away from Thanksgiving, some people have already begun preparing for the day we give thanks (and eat WAY too much turkey). Whether you are a guest or playing host, OrganizeIt.com has plenty of products available to help make this sometimes stressful holiday easier. Here’s some of our favorite Holiday Entertaining items:
If you’re having some appetizers or snacks before the big meal, consider using this 2 Tier Carousel Tray. A great way to display cheese, fruit or veggies, this serving tray has a combined six divided sections to hold and separate your various snacks. A drop in support knob is included with this serving tray for stand alone use and to allow the tray to rotate in a circle for easy food access.
Anyone hosting Thanksgiving dinner is going to need plenty of Serving Trays and Bowls. OrganizeIt.com has a wide selection of serving trays and bowls, including this elegant Scrollwork Oval Serving Tray. This serving tray has two side handles to provide easy transportation to your dinner table. This serving tray is constructed of recycled, food-safe metal and comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.
Any special occasion calls for the use of the “good silverware”, after all, you do want impress your guests. Organize-It has plenty of flatware to choose from, like the simple and elegant Sea Drift Collection. This silverware set is available in a 20 piece option, which accommodates four full place settings, and a 42 piece option, which accommodates eight full place settings and includes two serving spoons.
If you’re someone’s guest and supplying dessert, we have a great solution to help transport your sweet treats. The Plastic Cake and Cupcake Carrier can transport up to 36 cupcakes in one container and comes in yellow, blue and clear. The carrier base measures 16 inches wide by 12.5 inches deep and can easily accommodate a quarter sheet cake when the cupcake trays are removed.
Another great way to transport dessert is with the Collapsible Cake and Cupcake Carrier. This carrier can transport up to 24 cupcakes or hold a tall, round tiered cake up to 8 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter. When not in use, this carrier collapses for easy storage.
After the meal is over and all of the cleaning up is complete, remember to store your fancy silverware away to help preserve its shine and luster. Organize-It has many different Silverware Chests available to choose from, like this Handmade Wooden Flatware Chest. Coming in an espresso finish, this flatware chest is designed to accommodate up to 180 pieces of flatware, including twelve butter spreaders and twelve additional place knives, and features a tarnish-resistant silver cloth lining to keep flatware protected from scratches and damage from exposure to the elements.
Need a Gift for your Guy?
October 17, 2012
With the holidays rapidly approaching (Halloween kicks off the season in just two weeks), it’s time to start making those lists and checking them twice. I find that men are the hardest to shop for. We gals will be happy with pretty much anything new (shiny or not), but guys can sometimes be a challenge. If your significant other wears ties on a regular basis, or even if he just has a lot of ties for special occasions, why not pick up a tie rack for him for Christmas?
There’s something in it for you, too, after all. And by that I mean a more organized closet, which in turn means more space for your stuff, who doesn’t love that?
One of my favorite gifty style tie racks is the Motorized Tie Rack. This handy tool has a modern look and takes up just five inches of space on the closet rod (about the size of two hanging garments). It is battery operated and with the touch of a button it rotates, giving you access to up to 64 ties and 8 belts (that’s enough space to last even the most tie obsessed guy a life time). It even has a light for when he wants to pick out clothes while you are sleeping in the dark. The light is automated for turn on and shut off. Plus, it gives you more gift ideas and options down the road for many holidays to come (ties, anyone?).
Holiday Shopping Tip: In your calendar or daily planner, keep a page tabbed with each family and friend’s name on it so that while you are walking around stores or around your house, as you think of a gift idea, you can make note of it. This makes it so much easier when the time to shop for presents comes around.
