How to Organize Your China

The leaves are changing and the temperatures are falling…autumn has definitely arrived.  With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I am going to give you some tips for organizing your china.  Whether you use china or other dinnerware, these tips will apply to any dishes that you use on an occasional basis.

First, you need to decide how to store them.  There are some great china storage sets available that allow you to safely protect, store and organize your dishes.  Most sets include quilted, breathable containers with zipper closures to keep them free of dust and bugs.  They also come with cushioned plate dividers to prevent chips.  You can purchase a set that includes containers for plates as well as serving pieces or individual containers to expand an existing set.

Next, you need to decide where to store them.  A china cabinet is a great storage spot, but many people don’t have this piece of furniture in their homes.  Alternative storage locations include upper shelving in your pantry or basement.  By keeping them up high, they are less likely to get broken, and it opens up middle shelves for items that you use more frequently.  If you take the time to organize and protect your dinnerware, you will find your holidays easier and more enjoyable, and you will protect you collection for years to come.
