Outdoor Storage Shelves For Summer Recreation

With the weather getting nicer and the likelihood that my gardening will actually be successful, it is time to look at some outdoor storage shelves! Whether it is home improvement, gardening or just recreation that is on your docket, shelves for your outdoor space are a convenient storage addition.

I am lucky enough to live in a drier climate than most in the United States. There is a reason they say “it never rains in Southern California”. And that is because it does not rain here, especially in the summer. So for my outdoor shelving needs, I do not need to worry as much about rotting or moisture damage. However, I am open-minded enough to realize that the rest of the country does not really share this climate advantage.

There are great storage options for the yard. The Deck Box Outdoor Storage Box is a perfect choice for storing your summertime recreational accessories.

While it is not really outdoor storage shelves, this item is a must-have for anyone that wants to keep their sporting equipment and playthings in tip-top shape through the summer. Plus, it makes a great seat in the yard when the lid is closed!

There are many other outdoor storage shelves out there. For instance, a great alternative to a wood cabinet is a strongly-finished set of metal shelves, which are also very resistant to the outdoor elements. One advantage of the metal shelves is that they are much less likely to warp.

With these tips in mind, you will be able to enjoy this summer and have convenient storage right at your fingertips!

Shoe Organizer for the Summer Season!

I am starting to be able to feel it in the air – summertime is upon us! This is the time of year that is perfect for spending time outdoors, whether it is camping, swimming or hiking! The summer requires a unique mix of footwear, so finding the perfect shoe organizer for the out-of-season attire is a must!

During the months of May, June, July, August and even September, my footwear of chose is a comfy pair of sandals. Going to the grocery store, taking the kids to school, and just about every other activity will have me in a pair of flip-flops.

What shoes will be tossed into the shoe organizer?

One pair of shoes I certainly will not be caught dead in are Crocs. In my opinion, no one over the age of 12 should wear these silly-colored foam foot covers, unless said person is on their way home from their nursing job (if you are wearing scrubs you get an auto pass in my book). Into the shoe organizer with you, Crocs!

During the winter, I prefer to wear a pair of heavy-duty boots. What is great about these boots is that they keep my little toes warm and dry. Nothing is worse than trudging home from a long day at work only to discover your shoes have leaked and your socks are soaking wet. That is why these are great winter-time shoes. But work boots in the summer? Into the shoe organizer with you, winter-time boots!

During the spring and fall I like to keep it casual and wear my tried-and-true Chucks. You may know them more formally as Converse All-Stars. These shoes have been immortalized by a wide range of pop culture icons, from Joey Ramone to Miley Cyrus. But I wear them because they are so comfortable, I don’t care how cool they look. But in the summer, the canvas material is just too much for my sweaty feet to handle. Into the shoe organizer with you, beat up Chuck All-Stars!

What is this organizer I am speaking of? It is the Hanging Men’s Shoe Bag. It is heavy duty enough to hold all of my shoes, plus it has a convenient design that is easy to tuck away in the closet.

Turn A Basic Storage Box Into A Practical First Aid Kit

Ask anyone who has ever worked retail, and they will tell you just how easy it is to spend hard-earned cash on the copious amount of items they are surrounded by during their work day.  Many a time, purchases are made spontaneously, but sometimes, actual thought is put into a purchase.

Take for example a recent purchase made by Mary, a writer in OrganizeIt.com’s Content Department.  She recently purchased the Small Iris Snap-Top Plastic Storage Case to transform it into a first aid kit/travel essentials kit for her father, who is constantly on the road as a truck driver.

Sold for only $6.99, this storage box measures 14 inches W x 4 inches H x 10.5 inches D.  It’s amazing that Mary somehow fit all 28 items shown in the photo above.  All of the items in the photo were picked up at a local dollar store, which allowed Mary to create a wonderful, comprehensive first aid/travel kit without breaking the bank.  The only item not purchased at the dollar store are the dog vitamins shown in the top right corner.  Those are for Bert and Ernie, two miniature doberman pinschers who accompany Mary’s father on his trips.

To prove that Mary actually fit all of those items into the storage box, check out the photos below of Mary meticulously packing up the kit:

For curious minds, Mary included the following items in the kit:  sterile pads, first aid scissors, sunblock, self-adhesive bandages, gauze, Neosporin, an Ace bandage, cold medicine, a knee brace, anti-diarrheal pills, allergy pills, antacids, energy pills, saline solution, Ibuprofen, an eye glass repair kit, hydrogen peroxide, dog vitamins, rain poncho, a cool snake, Icy Hot, antibacterial wipes, glow sticks, cotton pads, cold/hot compress, hydrocortisone cream, Orajel, and muscle rub cream.
